Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you cover?
Spot the Difference Equine predominantly covers the East of England; Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, although we have travelled as far as Oxfordshire, Jersey and Ireland! Mileage is included in appointment fees up to a 35 mile radius from IP11 (Felixstowe), waivered for multiple horse visits.
What type of horse is Sports Therapy suitable for?
Whilst the name suggests that Equine Sports Therapy is only suitable for performance horses, this is not the case! Although EST can be really helpful for keeping equine athletes in top shape, helping them recover following competitions or training, those with less-intense regimes can also benefit. All horses are likely to exhibit a degree of asymmetry, much like people, so helping them to strengthen weaknesses and compensations can be extremely beneficial for promoting long-term soundness. Those who may be recovering from injury or operations (including ligament/tendon issues, muscular strains and kissing spine surgery) will have a tailored rehabilitation plan including regular appointments to check on progress, remedial exercises and physical therapy protocols to give them the best chance at a full recovery. For horses not in competition work or rehabilitation, EST can be extremely beneficial as a maintenance treatment, keeping them feeling their best throughout their daily routine.
How much do you charge?
Initial appointments are £70, follow-up appointments are £60, plus a mileage fee charged at 50p/mile outside of a 35 mile radius from IP11. Discounts are available for the following;
Mileage charge waivered for bookings of 3 or more horses
Follow-up appointments booked on the day qualify for £5 discount
What are your qualifications?
I initially qualified in 2023 after completing a 3 year Level 6 BSc in Equine Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at Writtle University College, providing me with the knowledge to create tailored rehabilitation plans for injured horses and offer sessions in Sports Therapy (similar to a sports massage for humans). I have always been dedicated to expanding my knowledge, returning to Writtle University in September 2025 to begin my postgraduate studies in a 3 year Level 7 MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy.
Do you treat other animals?
At the Spot the Difference Equine, we currently specialise in the treatment of horses. However, this will soon be expanded to include our smaller furry friends; learn more about this by pressing this button —>
Do you require Veterinary Consent?
Under the Veterinary Surgeons Act (1966) Exemptions Order (2016), a therapist is allowed to provide maintenance treatments to an animal exhibiting no signs of lameness or ill-health. However, in the case of ongoing medical care or concerns surrounding a new medical condition, veterinary consent is required. This is a very simple process; upon booking an appointment I will ask for your consent (due to GDPR regulations) to contact your vet to obtain their permission and any relevant clinical history ahead of your appointment. Your vet and I will take care of the rest.
